Yes, you can. Before I got a DVD burner on my computer, that was the only way I could do it. You'll need to look at your owner's manual about the format though. I had .avi, .mp3g, and another format that I used, but not all of them would play on my DVD player. In a different DVD player, they all worked. It's a compatibility issue.

CD-Rs are cheap, so you could try it in multiple formats to see what works on the player you primarily use.
