why is it important to help children protect themselves?

It's important to TEACH them how to take care of themselves ALONE.Because one day they will be without us and they have to know that.

Things you teach a child at a young age, stick with them for the rest of their lives, it's important to teach them to grow up to be independent when they're older. And even at a young age, they need to be aware of the world we live in. Of, course, it shouldn't be all doom and gloom, mostly playing and having fun, but you should still make them aware of not talking to strangers, not getting into strange cars, if they can't find mammy in a shop teach them to go straight to the lady on the till and tell her they're lost, and also teach them when they need to and how to dial 999, not to pet strange dogs, and the list goes on. Teaching them to be safe when they're young, will help them to grow into a responsible adult x
