I still can't get why in bibles Jesus is pictures as a white man. If anything he'd have a more olive colored skin. Christians need to be more in tune with History rather then believe in lies. I mean really do people believe Jesus had healing and magical powers. Yeah right that was a load of crap. Curing the blind, water into wine. If Jesus was so important of a figure and did all these things. Why then was he killed. Maybe he was killed because everyone found out that he was a fraud. Judas hung himself over guilt that he believed in a dumbazz. I'm tired of christians thinking really Jesus is thier savior. Really a savior ? More like a Fraud !

jesus wasn't white. the reason why he is most often pictured like that is because of white supremacy. he should be olive skinned, like you said. he should, be he wasn't. the Christian revolution happened in europe, so the leaders figured that more people would worship him if he looked like them. During the Crusades, europeans were fighting the middle easterners. the religious leaders knew that if people saw jesus as a middle easterner, they would no longer believe in their cause.
chritianity is as much about politics and advertising as it is religion at times. as a christian myself, i feel awful. i don't think it should be that way, but when you are just a mere parishoner, there is NO WAY you can go against te pope.
i'm pretty sure there was a more respectful way to word your question.

In response to Nancy O...No, not all Jews are white. There are two types of Jews. The Ashkenazic Jews and the Sephardic Jews. Ashkenazic Jews are ones that are from Europe and Russia. (They make up the brunt of Jews in America.) These are the Jews you know to be as white.
Then there are the Sephardic Jews. Sephardic Jews are ones that are from the Middle East and North Africa. They are darker skinned. Jesus was a Sephardic Jew.

Jesus may not have be white as most pictures show. That doesn't matter though. What does matter is that He lived, died and was resurrected on the third day for our sakes. Repent and believe the Gospel!
Your idea of the authenticity of Jesus Christ has no foundation. Christ's life was indeed documented by eyewitnesses and written down. Even those who wished it were not true could not deny the fact that He defied the laws of physics.

Jesus was Jewish right? Are not Jews white? It really shouldn't matter to someone what color his skin if they don't believe anything else about him. If you doubt the miracles, why don't you doubt his crucifixion? Why don't you doubt Judas guilt? You can believe what you want, but either you believe the Bible or you don't. Can't have it both ways.

jesus was not black or white he was brown and why should color matter the bible said that he had a skin of bronze and hair like thick wool and cold dark brown eyes doe that solve it so keep painting pictures of god and watch yall burn in hell stop competing races with each other its plain ignorant and god don't like ugly so stop actin like whites are supreme and blacks are supreme becuz there are more races out there that he could be

Aren’t those usually paintings by famous artists? I think people should be allowed artistic freedom to paint as they desire. Besides, what does it matter what he looked like. Nothing about his looks changes who he is.

OK. I'm going to settle this. I am sick and tired of hearing, "Jesus was black, Jesus was white, blah, blah, blah." Anyone who actually cares about Jesus' SKIN COLOR is COMPLETLY missing out on the point of his message. LOVE THY NEIGHBOR!!!

they portrayed him like that to europeans so that they could relate to him, it is a sign of beauty, they will do that everywhere, there is a christian church in china where madonna and child are both chinese, and will be throughout china, it is not lies. would you prefer a rotten faced arab with a jew hat on? if that is what he really looked like? no offence to people who live there now
