Young female mother of 4 kittens. We thought she went into heat and got pregnant but that was many many months ago and she never gave birth. She hasn't gone into heat since. Any ideas? Spontaneous infertility?

Perhaps she lost her kittens and the miscarriage negatively affected her reproductive organs. I personally wouldn't worry about it, unless you want her to have more kittens, or feel it may be a serious health problem. In that case, I would talk to a vet about it.

This isn't the season for kittens just wait and see she'll go back into heat again. But yes cats just like people can have fertility problems. I had a cat many years ago who had a miscarriage. I took her to the vet and she was spayed. The vet told me that more than likely she'd always miscarry because she had a hormone imbalance.

You might want to have her checked at the vet. If she never dropped the kitties she may still be in a dormant mode which could be unhealthy for her.
