I have a jvc gz-mg21u hard disk camcorder and i like to record sporting events the problem is is when i hit the stop recording button it starts a new file so i cant have a continues recording of the game so it makes it extremly hard to record onto a vcr tape so is there a way you can just pause the recording and start it again just like on the old camcorders with the tapes

Even though it makes short video clips when you record, there is software you can use to edit these clips together into a longer movie. You should have received PowerDVD or PowerProducer or something along those lines. You could probably also use Movie Maker if it recognizes the file format your camcorder uses and I think it will.

Why didnt you just buy a VHS camera? If you can, upgrade your camera to minidv or return it for a minidv camera. Then you can just put it all on your computer and burn it to your DVD. Or get a dvd cam even. Hate to break the news to you, but HDD cams basically are worthless (ok well not worthless, but definitely lower than minidvs and dvds). You cant really edit them because their MPEG-2, and you cant just pop them in and watch them like dvds. But back to your video. If you dont want to do this, then you can just guess and try to make everything on your VHS tape (no offense, but thats so old school) line up the way you want, but who said you didnt have to work to get a good product? Hope this helps!
