I'm doing a study as to how the UK home office check up work-permit applicants' wageslips and bank statements to ensure they are genuine.

They can contact your previous employer or they can verify any earnings during your lifetime by checkin the records of the Social Security Administration. Sorry this answer is for the United States.

Weird thing to study. Perhaps for my geography assignment I will do a study on where police deploy breathalyzers.
