I went through Army boot camp, and I have compared notes with Marines about their boot camp. Army boot camp is a picnic compared to things at the MCRD at Parris Island and San Diego.

If you were in the Marine Corps and finished boot camp, why would you be concerned about army basic training? It's not nearly as rigorous, nor are the physical requirements nearly as demanding.
The fact that you were medically discharged from the Marine Corps, yet accepted by the army, should tell you just how desperate the army is for new recruits. It almost sounds to me that a recruiter is simply making quota, but the real test of you being a keeper or not, will come when you get into training.

Chances are the Army recruiters didnt tell you the whole story. From my understanding, if your DQd from one, your DQd from them all. I was an Air Force Recruiter for 10 years and have never heard of anyone being medically disqualified from one service but qualified for the other, especially after being medically discharged. The Marines need people as bad as the Army so you would think they wouldnt have discharged you in the first place.
Now.... if that medical condition that got you discharged is no longer a problem, you should be able to get back into the Marines.
And, I didnt think you would have to go back through boot camp. I thought if you were in the AF or Navy and went into the Army or Marines, then you would need to do boot camp, but not Army to the Marines or Marines to the Army. I could be wrong there.

If the Army can take you, then you don't go to Army bootcamp. The Marines who got out honorablly or with a better RE code, and want to enlist in the other branches of the military don't go to their bootcamp since Marine Corps bootcamp is tough and much longer than the other branches' bootcamp. Ask the Army recruiter about it or go to this site's discussion forum: http://www.military.com and ask the recruiters and former recruiters about it. My former Drill Instructor switched to the Army so he can be a Helicopter pilot as a warrant officer. That's what I plan on doing also.
@ bob, prospective recruits who were in the Army do have to go to Marine Corps bootcamp in MCRD San Diego or Parris Island. My former Senior Drill Instructor and another recruit in my recruit training platoon were dogface soldiers in the Army. There was a recruit I heard about in I believe in Alpha Company in MCRD San Diego, who was a 33 year old recruit that was a SSgt in the US Army Rangers and served in the first Gulf War. He graduated as Platoon Honorman. This a few years ago way before 9-11 happened. He's probably a SSgt or Warrant Officer in the Marine Corps by now. Some Marines switch to Army so they can be Army helicopter pilots as warrant officers.

Dude I did time in two branches Navy than Army. If you want my opinion go in the Air Force, the best branch to serve in.
The Army was "Interesting' I have never seen so much stupidity all around in my entire life. From battalion commanders who couldn't find their rear end without a map to platoon leaders that would be reading orders out of a book during war games. There were some great officers and NCO's but they were outnumbered 3-1 by politicians and *** kissers. I was in the infantry, got my Airborne wings, Air Assault Wings, Expert infantry Badge, made E-5 in two years, graduated from the NCO academy on the commandants list and served in the 25th Infantry Division. I maxed out my asvab when I joined I could have done anything but I joined the day after Saddam invaded Kuwait back in 90. I figured that was going to be my generation’s war and that anything less than carrying a rifle was unacceptable. I would think long and hard about joining the Army, the levels of incompetence in even things that should be simple were mind blowing. Not the organization I would want to entrust with my life. The Air Force has the nicest bases, the nicest barracks and or base housing, the nicest PX and recreation services and just seems better run overall.

You need to make sure your still in good shape. I think the limit now on the p/u's are 40. 2 miles in less that 15 min. It's been a while since I was in basic, but it was in the Army! Oh, and by the way ~ it's not called Boot Camp, it's called Basic Training.
Thank you for serving our Country.
Happy New Year!

hahaha...all you need to do is turn in your pair. Cause the Aint Ready to be a Marine Yet's (A. R. M. Y.) don't have any. They leave the pair holding men to the Marines.
hahaha

how about helping to stop the madness by not joining again. Do you have blood lust in your heart? Fighting for corporations is not protecting your country
