For all who say that the U.S. is not a Christian nation, did you know that we have a National Cathedral in Washington DC? FYI it is also the Cathedral of the Episcopal Church. Sounds a bit like England doesn't it.

I did not find Father K's comment unkind. It made me smile. He can come concelebrate with our priest anytime he likes. Course his Papa might not like it, but we won’t tell.

Ok so I am old and can't see. I though Father K said Episcopalian.
But he can still come play with us, if Papa lets him out.

The Washington National Cathedral is affiliated with the government by a charter of Congress, signed on January 6, 1893, but does not receive any federal or district funding. The National Cathedral Association provides most funding for the cathedral. (Wikipedia)

The national cathedral is beautiful isn't it!
If you go and witness it- your option may be enhanced a bit.
No matter your religious affiliation. Christian is the basis for the church, since it was founded on Christian values.
Pagan, Muslim, Hindi and Buddhist are all welcome.

They picked a Protestant church because it was more main stream and inviting to more Americans. Being Catholic myself, it makes sense to open it to a broader audience.

Take the tour- it is incredible and if your get a chance to see a military wedding there- it is just breath taking!

The National Cathedral has no official place in the US government. It is the National Cathedral for the Episcopal Church.

I used to be a soloist at the Universalist National Memorial Church on 16th Street. There are several "National" churches in DC.

There's also the headquarters for the National Education Association, the National Rifle Association, and National Geographic.

properly, it is not top on the nationwide Cathedral yet over some blocks on Connecticut highway via the Woodley Park/nationwide Zoo Metro station there is an entire row of scrumptious eating places. yet another place could be via the Friendship Heights Metro Station that's stable up Wisconsin highway from the Cathedral. in case you have specific questions, touch me! while you're brave and prefer crowds, you could head south on Wisconsin into Georgetown, many great eats there. try Bistro Francais, Mie-N-Yu. bypass to any Clyde's or Chadwicks everywhere interior the city. desire I helped!

I think that the "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance, and the "In God We Trust" on the dollar bill, pretty much say it all.

I've been there. It is truly a magnificent structure. It's massive and very Gothic in style.

My only regret it that it is inhabited by the Episcopagans.
