Check on the AKC website to see if there is a breed specific rescue for them. That would probably be your best bet. Even if there isn't one in Florida, many rescues would be willing to help find a way to get the dog to you if they were sure it was going to a good home.

Actually, bulldog are expensive not because they cost more to raise, but because they are born in small litters and usually have to be born by c-section. For a good English Bulldog, you're going to pay anywhere from $1000 to $3000. Try www.bulldoginformation.com They have links to breeders all over the country.

As the owner of one very loving huge Bulldog puppy...it is the financial equivalent of raising a child.

English Bulldogs are very expensive to care for and if you get a reasonably priced bulldog from a non-breeder or where ever chances are you will be getting yourself into whole mess of vet bills..
Bulldogs require a lot of space, a lot of food (often prescription or speciality brand), special shampoo for skin problems, you have to wash their folds constantly so it doesn't get infected, some have eye problems and require surgery, shots, and this only the begining....

Our doggie's vet costs at seven months were well over $1000, he is considered healthy and we bought him from a breeder. And this just for one dog.

Our bulldog as been to the vet more than my daughter who is 2, and believe me his bills, COST A LOT MORE!!!!

Find one from a breeder and ask a lot of question, does the parents have a history of demodex (sp?) mange, eye problems, or any health problems. Some breeders will NOT give this information, though they should, and it could end up costing you and your dog alot.

Good Luck

Artificial inseminations and C-sections. It can easily cost $3,000 - $4000 to breed a litter, and then only have 2-3 pups. How cheap do you think they should be? Expensive to breed, expensive to own as well.

If you find one that is less than the going rate, you can be sure they are cutting corners with things like health testing. This is a breed that is known for many health problems and to buy a cheap one is asking for huge Vet bills and heartache later on.

Bulldogs are expensive because they cost a lot to raise. If you find one that's "affordable" it's likely you will be spending a lot of time at the vet's.

That's exactly what I mean when I say the are expensive to raise.
