Yesterday, (1-1-2007. What better way to sart the new year?) I wanted to be saved. So I knelt in the corner of my room and said The Prayer, and walked away. I was happy but I don't really feel any different. Do u think i was saved? I will try to go to church more, and read the bible from time to time, but i want to know:
1. Do u think i was saved?
2. What are some things i should NOT do now. (give me a list of sins)
Thanks!,
♥ Taylor ♥
(p.s. I'll go ahead and tell u b/c i don't want God (Ennam Engel) to consider this a lie, so... my name isn't Taylor, I would never give my name out on the internet! But on this id my name IS taylor!)

Sweetie... you just made one of the best decisions of your life! You prayed the Prayer, and you are now saved! You saying that you aren't going to lie about your name shows me great insight on your integrity and want to be sinless. I recommend the New International Version Teen Study Bible. Even if you are older than a teenager, it is a great place to start if you are wanting to learn more about insights of Christianity. It is sooooo awesome that you are know able to be a part of the Kingdom of Heaven! I will pray for you! Message me if you'd like to talk more about this! When I was saved, my life turned around!

I realize my answer will upset many who have answered so far. But understand that is not my point. My answer is out of love and a desire to see many saved.
The Bible doesn't mention praying a prayer to be saved. Nor does going to church save you. Neither does "asking Jesus into your heart". (What Bible verse says that?)
There are two things the Bible says you must do to be saved. Repent and put your trust in Christ. If you said a prayer only then you are not saved, no matter how much you mean it. Jesus said "unless you repent you will perish". Paul wrote, "God commands all men everywhere to repent, because he has appointed a day in which he will judge the world in righteousness".
When the rich young ruler in Luke 18 came to Christ asking Him how he could gain eternal life, Jesus didn't say, "say this prayer". So why should we? He gave him 5 of the 10 Commandments. The man said he had kept these. Then Jesus brought out the fact that he had not kept the 1st of the 10 Commandments. Then the man went away sad. It is only when we see that we have violated God's Law that we see our need for a Savior.
Please don't just rely on having said the "sinner's prayer". That theology has been around for only 50 years. And if there are any here who believe themselves saved because of having said it, and have not repented (turned from sin) and put their trust in Christ to save them, then they are lost too (and that is according to the Bible).
After you have been saved, then read your Bible daily, obey what it says and God will never let you down and you will never have to be ashamed. Find yourself a Bible based church then go out and witness to people. I guarantee you will grow as a Christian if you do these things.
Please examine yourselves. You can't afford to get this wrong. Better you check now than on the day of judgement.

Only God knows if you are saved or not. If you are true and sincere about wanting Christ in your heart, then He will save you. You also have to do your part in obeying God's word, doing what He says is right - not what's 'right' according to the world. Read Romans 1:28-32 and 1 John chapter 5. Also, I would suggest reading the bible, starting from the New Testament. Romans 1:28-32 gives a list of sins that are abominations to God.
It's not a matter of opinion about whether or not you're saved - it's a matter between you and God. Salvation is not about opinion. Living your life according to God and His word is a 'growth' process - takes time to learn what God wants and expects from us. We grow and prosper in Christ. It's like a baby when he/she is first born, then they grow and grow until they begin to understand how to walk, talk, then eat, etc. It's the same in a Christian's life - we start out as babes in Christ, then as time goes on in our spiritual lives, we grow more and more in Christ and die to sin more and more each day. Hope this helps you some!
May God Bless and Happy New Year!

Just saying a prayer doesn't mean you are "saved". You must believe it in your heart. Your life does not change dramatically overnight. Go speak with someone; a pastor at a church, or someone in a local church you would feel comfortable talking to. They can guide you in your search for salvation. And as far as sins...read the Ten Commandments (in the bible) and read the Golden Rule (Do unto others, as you would have done unto you..or in other words, treat people the way you would want to be treated)...these will give you an excellent start!

Yes I do think you were saved, Now what were you saved from? Why did you get saved without studying the bible, this is a very hard life are you willing to give up you computer and use the public one. How you have to change your life to suit Jesus, do you know how to do that. I would get off the net and jump right into that book and start learning what is now expected of me.
Good Luck!!!

if you truly truly believe that Jesus died on the cross to save your sins, then yes, you are a Christian. if so, you now have the holy spirit within you and your conscience will let you know if what you are doing is right or wrong! but for the most part you should be able to tell. like if you did something wrong, will you lie about it? NO thats WRONG!
hope this helps
Happy New Year!
read your Bible! talk to God! He is your friend!

Hi Taylor, I am glad that you are saved. When you pray and believe in your heart that you are saved, you ARE!
Please read the gospel of John, first. That is a good place to start. You don't need a list of sins, you are set free from sin. Don't look for what you can't do in Christ, look for what you can do!
Be blessed in Jesus. \o/ vicki

"Gettin' saved" doesnt mean it was your decision. This is God's territory, He will do the separating of the sheep and the goats, not you, not anyone else. You'll belong to Him because He called you and He has the capability to hold you in the palm of His hand. Just enjoy the experience. And your new relationship with your Creator.
