Does he drink out of the toilet instead? My cats like running water (they would run into the bathroom whenever a toilet was flushed to drink out of the moving water) so I got them a bowl that recirculates the water like a mini fountain. You could look on Petco.com or Petsmart.com to find them. They're a little expensive but it stopped the problem. Apparently recirculating water tastes fresher and is more oxygenated. Good luck!

I really don't know thee answer, I was told to keep the water dish away from their food dish, which I do. I have 2 cats and I keep at least 4 water dishes around the house, where they have easy access to a dish at all times. They like to have the water changed quite frequently also (which I'm happy to do ) Also some cats like to drink from a dripping faucet, or the cat fountains that they have also attract cats to the running water. ( Hey, whatever it takes to keep them happy) Also make sure to use a glass dish ,not plastic.

I surely have heard one concept which would be conscious right here. Cats have an extremely prepared experience of scent, and if the water bowl isn't rinsed top, it may come across the scent of your dish cleansing soap. the two overkill with the rinsing or try switching to an odorless cleansing soap. yet another is they're in a position to come across the chemical compounds interior the water. change to giving them filtered water. Get a Brita pitcher or something like that. it is extra healthy for them besides. the explanation why they're prepared to drink "grimy" water, mutually with out of puddles, is by way of the fact even nonetheless it is grimy it is extra organic. bathroom water, i do no longer understand why which would be eye-catching.....LOL yet wait, i chanced in this and it makes some experience: "I heard it grew to become into because of the fact water that sits has time for the chlorine to evaporate." you're able to desire to objective getting a puppy fountain. curiously the shifting water attracts some cats.

Well what does she drink from? There are alot of reasons, most spelled out by previous posters, but it's also possible, if you're cat is older, that she's going senile. That's what happened to my tobey in the last few months of his life - he seemed to just forget where is water bowl was, even though it had been in the same place for 19 years, and whenever he wanted to drink he'd jump in the bathtub and cry for someone to turn the faucet on.

Cats also like fresh water, maybe you're not switching it out enough for her?

Cats like the sound of running water so I would suggest getting a cat fountain. They cost anywhere from $30 to $40 and ever so often you have to change the filters which cost $20.

It could be a number of things, some cats don't like plastic, try a glass bowl if you're not using one already. Is the bowl near the litter box, some don't like that either. Maybe your cat just likes drinking out of other things, the sink, tub, or toilet. They are cats after all, they're finicky. :) Don't worry about it, as long as it's drinking from somewhere.

My cat used to drag her water bowl across the kitchen floor. I read here on this sight that some cats don't like their food and water in the same room. I started to put her food in the living room and she stopped dragging her water across the kitchen floor. Some cats prefer the toilet because the water is cooler, some cats like the water if it is from a dripping faucet because cats like running water. You could try getting one of those new running water bowls for your cat go to Dr.Foster&Smith.com to order.

Some cats are just perverse in their choice of water source. Some like only a running or dripping faucet. You should use filtered water for your cat - I use a Brita water pitcher. I don't like the taste of chlorine in my coffee. One of my cats likes to drink from the coffee pot with the filtered water in it before I run it through the machine to make my coffee.

I can't answer your question but I sure can relate. I catch one of my cats in the toilet, in the tub, in the stand up shower, in a glass that was left on a table. He drinks anywhere he can get it, other than his cat bowl. I don't get it either but just had to let you know I can relate!

Is the dish too small? If your cat's whiskers are touching the bowl when he drinks from it he might not use it anymore. Their whiskers are very sensitive and help them judge size.
