The same reason you do. He's interested in you of course everyday, or he wouldn't be with you. He's got other things on his mind and other interests to pursue. Do you really want to be with someone who's only interest is you? Someone who has no life outside of you?! Maybe he's worried about money, work, his future, or he's just bored.
It's rare to find people who can really focus on one thing at a time. The "lost in thought" look. Ask him what he's thinking about before accusing him of not being interested in you.

guys are like that! same happens to me. one day my bf can be all lovey dovey and the next he doesnt even pay attention to me because he is watching football!!!
and if he gets upset if someone tries to holla at you is because someone is invading HIS territory...

Maybe that is just him. Maybe he has been hurt before so he subconsiously pushes you away not really meaning to but he just does. If it bothers you, talk to him about it.
