Yes, which is why they usually put a warning on the games. Anyone (children or adults) who is spending a long time on the computer or playing video games needs to take a break about every 30 minutes. This helps reduce eye strain. An epileptic episode can sometimes occur if the player becomes fatigued. Of course, video games should not be the only activity the child participates in (read books, throw a ball around outside, etc.), but there is nothing wrong with playing.

uhh maybe psychological problems. He should spend some hours outside and parents should limit their game use. I think thats a big reason why kids today are really getting big at early ages. Depends if he has friends, I would only let my kids play the computer for not more then a few hours. It also isn't healthy to leave the computer in the kids room. It should be in the family room.

Yes, I think he needs to be spending time with friends doing other activities. He needs to get involved in sports or something other then video games. A hour playing video games is OK but I think you need to cut him back a bit. He needs to find something constructive to do.

No.
They'll stop when they are tired. In fact, by putting limits on the games, you create a synergy where they will play much longer than they actually care to, because they don't know when they'll be able to play again.
In our house, the kids can play videogames whenever they care to, as long as their responsibilities are taken care of...that includes chores and schoolwork. We do ask that they not play when we have guests over, just because it's rude to ignore people in preference to things.

Most of us played video games for hours as a kid and seem to have turned out ok. I'd personally stay away from violent video games though.
If you're really concerned though, set up a time limit and stick to it.As a parent we have to set rules, this could be one of them.

well not exactly but, well try to let them play for shorter periods of time. Let them play for like 30 to 45 mins here and then take a break. Get them to do hmk in between or go outside or hang out w/ friends......too much video games can b very unhealthy. Let them play it sure....just not constantly.

No it's not OK for any kid to sit in front of the TV for hours playing games or watching TV. Kids need to get out and be social and get exercise.

As long as he/she is physically active, well grounded( doesn't live in fantasy gamer world), and makes good grades, then the games aren't having a negative effect.

don't you think he would be better served to be out riding his bike, playing football with friends, just getting fresh air and exercise? Allowing him to sit for many hours is NOT a good thing to let him do!!!!!!!
