Depends.

I am a supervisor with a large law enforcement agency. We have Standard Operating Procedures and Manual of Regulations which spell out such things. We also have a rule of Progressive Discipline that mandates what your going to receive as a result of your violation.

In the Fire Service we have a chain of command. Disiplinary steps are in place and would be followed.
