Weather you are a Christian, Jew, Muslim or a spiritualist of another type, what do you gain by placing your belief in that which is inaccessible to investigation?

If you can't see it, touch it, taste or smell it how can you possibly examine it curiously and be satisfied with consistent returns of emptiness for your efforts?

What do you gain or expect to gain?

The same thing a child gains by believing in santa

By placing your faith in god you shouldn't be out to get something other than a sense of security and safety that there is someone looking out for you.
Though you can't see it, touch it, taste or smell it these are areas which do not need to be used. You can read about it. If you are seriously a believer then the holy text of your religion is where you need to go.
Though as you are in a sense, questioning your belief, it gives me an opportunity to also question your belief.
For whatever reasons that you have posted this question, I hope I have brought some help to the matter. Good Luck. C

Entrance into heaven!
Once you enter into a true relationship with Jesus Christ, you are a changed person. It is not just because you try to act different, but because you actually are different and know & feel it. You have a sense of peace that cannot be gotten any other way & cannot be duplicated no matter how hard you try to make yourself feel that way. It is done by a power much stronger than anything in this world, by the Holy Spirit.
The Bible is the only book/religion ever that has held up throughout the test of time. It has never been able to be disproven, only to be proven true in sooo many instances.

What other thing that you believe in also holds to the second paragraph, yet you believe that it exists? OXYGEN. You can't see it, touch it, taste or smell it, yet you examine it curiously and are satisfied that it exists. The GOD that I worship has so much going for HIM. There are so many things that point to HIS existance that I will always believe in HIM. The rewards are "Out of ThIs WoRlD"! Have a great week.

It is rather complicated when spiritual is concerned. It has never been denied that God is invisible just like the soul that was attached to our body to make us alive, it is evidently proven when our soul leave our body during our dream and the return of our soul into our body awaken us. Spirit can never be visualized by our naked eyes, it is odorless but only a pure heart could undoubtedly detect the existence of God. God's benevolence is the greatest among all other kinds of love. The gifted body and soul, without God , we will be so weak and helpless, have you ever thought of the air that we breathe and the water that we drink, can you create these two essential elements by your own ?
Have you ever thought of besides what to gain , how are you going to repay this precious life given to you, the purpose of our life and the life after death.

Peace. Wisdom. Faith. Hope. More love. And ultimately salvation leading to eternal life with God and Jesus Christ and all who believe in Him and on His name. "His name" represents every thing He Was and Is and Will be again, each name represents an aspect of the Triune self of our Lord and Savior. Because I have sought God and placed my trust in Him and He has answered my prayers and has granted me wisdom to understand many things, I have trust that became faith and that faith is what my hope is based in.God is Trustworthy doesn't lie, God is faithfull, in that He is true to His word' check out all His past truths, you Will see they in fact did occur, are still occurring and the future will testify to it as the past does now. Man changes, God made him to do so- God never changes; therefor He alone is worthy.God's instruction for salvation and belief is really very simplistic, We make it hard to understand! Put the matter to rest by realizing what Jesus said "And a little child shall lead them" Why? Because childlike, all believing awe and belief is the requirement, the heart of a child.

"That which is inaccessible to investigate" is an untrue statement. The testimonials from the lives of human beings who beieve in God are LEGION. They exist and are as real as the reality that you perceive about your own life. If their stories leave no doubt in their mind that God exists, as evidenced by profound change in their life, answered prayer -- or a concrete peace as to why prayer was unanswered, and this peace normally out of character for them -- then you must question the reality that God does not exist.

To flip the question and to answer the obvious response concerning the millions who do not believe in God, and is there perception real, as well? Difficult, but in essence, the legion who have testimonials as to God's presence in their lives have something CONCRETE to offer you . On the other hand, unbelievers have only their unbelief to offer. In order to obtain enlightenment of God, a human first needs to be observant and be open to the possibility of God, and inviting Him, as it were, into his heart, saying in essence, Here I am, Lord, and I HUMBLY request that you allow me some sort of reality that you exist. Humility is paramount. A fist at God is not the best sort of an invitation. Consider the open door policy, and try to open yours. That is the best answer I can give in a limited space such as this. I wish you peach and good fortune in your search.

Faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld. (Hebrews 11:1)

To believe in God and his promise is finding the truth that has set me free from many false beliefs. The hope that I have of the future is a comfort to the suffering that I encounter. For I know, this is not the real life....the real life is God's promised paradise when he rules as his Kingdom comes.

Things dont have to appeal to all 5 senses to be real, just one is enough. We can't prove that headaches exist we just know they do because we have experienced them. People who believe in God, like myself, have experienced Him. Some of us have also seen Him (though not in His full Glory) some have heard Him but all believers feel Him.

What do I expect to or even hope to gain? I hope to spend eternity with the One who has impacted my life more than anyone else has.

I cannot see God but everything in His creation points to a creator who loves us. By placing my belief in God through Jesus Christ his son I have gained peace.
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
