perhaps a body spray? like at bath and body works? there are also body washes w/ moisturizing lotion, so u don't have to reapply lotion.

The reason it feels sticky is because you're either slathering too much of it on, or you are putting it on dry skin. When you put lotion or moisturizer anywhere on your body, it's only going to work if your skin is damp...patting it dry with a towel after bathing. And this has a double effect if you put it on damp skin. Not only does it spread around more evenly and smooth, but you can get away with using less.
If that's too much to do, then you can use baby oil, or just a little olive oil. Again...these have better results when applied to damp skin, not dry. When your skin is damp it sucks in the moisturizer better and holds it there. When your skin is dry...you're basically just moisturizing the surface and it's not a long lasting effect.
But yes, I have this problem when I put lotion, cream or moisturizer on bone dry skin.

You may want to consider using a sun screen spray instead. Most of the good ones protects your skin from UVA and creates a layer of moisture.

Use baby powder. It moistuizes and is very dry and smooth. Or use a light moisturizer and then but baby powder over it. That's what I do and I don't feel sticky at all.

Maybe just use it at night so that you are asleep. Also, maybe you could try just plain old aloe gel.
