I got pregnant while nursing twice.

My first child was 16 months old when I conceived my second. He was still nursing at least 5 times per day in addition to eating solid foods. He nursed all the way through my pregnancy and tandem nursed with his sister for 16 months.

BOTH of my older children were still nursing when my third child was conceived. My oldest was 3 yrs 3 mos old and my middle was 14 months old when the third was conceived. Both were eating solids. The oldest was nursing sporadically, just a couple of times per week. The middle was still nursing several times per day. The oldest weaned 2 mos into that pregnancy and the middle weaned in the third trimester when the milk changed back to colostrum.

For MOST mothers, nursing during pregnancy is perfectly safe. Basically, if you are gaining weight OK and if you are allowed to have sex, then it's OK to keep nursing.

I recently became pregnant with my third child while still breastfeeding my second....she was 9 months old when I got pregnant. She was also on solid foods and was only nursing about 4-6 times a day.

I got pregnant when my son was 13 months and I was still breastfeeding some, but he was mostly eating table food by then, and only had a couple feedings (2 i think) each day. But we weren't using that as our only method of birth control, because it doesn't seem to be a very smart idea to.

My sister in law was breastfeeding when she became pregnant. Of course her son was just over a year old and was eating solid food by then.

Good Luck and Happy New Year!

I got pregnant with my third child 3 1/2 months after my second. I was just breastfeeding and hadn't started cereal yet. I was always told that breastfeeding helped not fully but helped you not to get pregnant, Obviously they were wrong.

~My sister was still breast feeding when she got pregnant again and it caused problems for the unborn baby.
Not a good idea, the unborn baby needs those nutrients.~
