Call the national stop smoking quit line as advertised on the TV ads i have this number for you to call 0800 2 4483 8 you can call them 7 days a week from 9am to 9pm.I gave up last new year after smoking for 30years at 40 cigs a day so if i can do it then so can you. They will tell you where to go(this is normally your nearest Boots) you will be put on a 6week coarse of nicotine replacement you wont have to pay for it as this is a scheme run by the government,I was put on the skin nicorett patches, and i used a inhalator that you put in cartridges that contain nicotine,I fount that this was the best thing to use as you still have the hand to mouth thing going on.I hope that this is a help to you,As it was to me.The cash that i have saved by not smoking has payed for myself and my hubby to be able to book us a 2week holiday in the US we go on June4 2007.
You have taken the first step to being a NON SMOKER.

The best way, in my opinion, is cold turkey. Which is what I'm about to do...again. Friends of mine have done it the same way. However, one wreaked havoc on any pen she could get her hands on. I just made up my mind yesterday that I was done. It's just getting too expensive, stinks, makes you feel less than 100%, takes a toll on your physical appearance...add to that mix the smoking ban going into effect in my area June 7.
If you don't want to do the cold turkey thing, I suggest you consult with your physician. I understand there is a new medication that Pfizer has recently put out on the market to help with smoking cessation and from what I've heard so far, it leads to good results.

You sound like me. It's not that easy to "just don't smoke." My doctor wrote me a prescription for a pill called Chantix. It's supposed to help block out all the withdrawal symptoms, thereby making quitting much easier. It's expensive though (about $100.00), and it's not covered by insurance. I haven't tried it yet, because I haven't completely made up my mind to quit smoking. It sounds like you have, though, and that's the first step. Good luck!

You should make a commitment to not smoking. Try using a calender and put reminders on it. Also, put a picture of your kids and use that as a source of confident to make a habit of not smoking. I don't smoke because I'm an athlete, and I know it is not healthy for me.

You may just have to walk the floor for a while-chew gum-use life savers candy (remember why you put one in your mouth)-Try whatever you have to to get your mind off smoking. If you use patches then you will still get the nicotine and still crave it! You may be able to use them to gradually let your body get used to doing without nicotine. Good luck and don't buy anything to smoke or borrow from anyone else! Your body will gradually become healthier although the damage that you have already done may be something you may have to deal with.

Put four or five dollars in a jar everyday you do not smoke. Then treat yourself or you and your family with the money every month. Actually, my doctor told me about a lady who did this and after a year went on a cruise. Do it for your children if you don't want to do it for yourself. Good luck!
