A few months ago I dyed my blond hair brown but now want to go with an auburn red my stylist says the color is really hard to keep up. Does anyone have red hair? is it a lot of maintenances?

I have always liked auburn hair. I hope it works for you.

I have auburn hair now but my normal color is brown. It takes a little less maintenance, for me going from brown to blonde took a lot more. But since your color now is brown it will probably take less maintenance at first since most brown has some hint of red/auburn in it.

Going from black or dark hair to light ones is very hard to maintain because it has to be stripped but for your change it is as simple as just coloring it. If you want to do it yourself, Nice and Easy has some great colors and it washes out over time in case you don't like it. If you go to a salon I am sure they will do a great job.

i dye my hair red a lot, and yes, it fades fast. if you have the money, have your stylist dye your hair, the color they use it much better quality and will be brighter and last longer than drugstore brands. if you have some more money, get what shampoo and conditioner your stylist recommends so the color will last. if you can't afford that, use john Frieda's red shampoo and conditioner. they smell awesome. and there is a daily color sealer too. so yes you will do more work than other colors, but i say go for it and you can always change it if you get over it. =)

If you have it done by a professional colorist, it should not be a problem. Every 6 weeks you will need to have the roots done and then they will comb it through and freshen the hair too. Find someone who specializes in color...that beautician apparently was not a colour expert.
