I have bought several in the last three years and I seem to burn them out. My last one was a Betty Crocker...loved it but it didn't make a year!

My son bought me a KitchenAid hand mixer last year for Christmas. I love it! The blades are wire, and are much easier to clean off than the standard flat-bladed hand mixers. They also make it easier for the mixer to power through tough dough. It comes with dough hooks - haven't used them yet, but I'm sure they will do great. I think they are about $50, but worth it.

I have a KitchenAid stand mixer as well, but it seems like I use my hand mixer more often. It's not too heavy and mixes quickly.

Although everyone loves the Kitchen Aid handmixer, I have had nothing but bad luck with them. They burn out faster and faster. I have found that it is just as well to get the ten dollar handmixer and save up for the heavy duty Kitchen Aid large mixer that is quite pricey. I feel as though they ten dollar handmixers work as long as the 60 dollar handmixers. I think the problem resides in the overheating of the handmixers. Save a few bucks and get the stand mixer.

I'm using a great little 3 speed Cuisinart. Powerful and light. The big stand mixers are a good investment for big projects but for a quick mix and quick clean up, a hand mixer rules.

OMG I asked a simlar question, everyone says Kitchen Aid Mixer. It's expensive, but they say it's worth it.
I am saving up for it, but in the mean time I bought the Hamilton 8 speed hand one for 20 bucks. I rather buy something now to do the job and save for the big one.
