Just today my daughter has been pulling at her diaper and crying, the first time she did it I just thought she wanted her diaper changed so I changed it, and she was fine for a bit then about and hour later she was doing it again, crying at pulling at it.What is wrong with her? She doesn't seem sick or anything and has a normal temperature. I haven't introduced her to the potty so I don't know what could be going on, she has never done this before.Any experiences?

It seems that she might be starting to get uncomfortable when she pottys in her diaper. My daughter is 2 and completely strips, diaper and all. I have just introduced the potty to her, not pushing her so she HAS to go on the potty, but it seems to ease the diaper tugging and undressing. She's pottied twice once on the little potty and once on the big potty. (She has an portable adapter seat!) I hope this helps!

P.S.- I pushed my oldest one to potty train, it took me over a year to have her fully trained! It seems to go easier if you don't force it.

My youngest is 19 months and she started doing that a month a so ago only without the crying. She didn't cry until I tried putting a diaper right on her. I had to start putting clothes that she couldn't just pull off like she could her pants.
Is the diaper too tight? Did you change the brand of diapers you use? Maybe she is just uncomfortable?
When mine started taking her diaper off I introduced her to the potty. Maybe you could try that?
Good luck! I hope you find the answer you are looking for!

The only thing I can think of is that the diaper might be irritating her in some way. The diaper might be too small or put on too tight. We both know that there are different kinds or types of crying. Make sure that you listen to her cry...whether it is one that signals pain, fatigue...whatever. You read your daughter better than anyone--does it seem that she is in discomfort or tired? Or is she just getting bored of wearing diapers? She might be one of those kids that just loves to roam naked (what kid doesn't?) more than others. She might be just cranky and needs a nap. Another thought, where is she grabbing at her diaper? Has she had a bowel movement in the last day or so? Perhaps she might be constipated. If the cry is consistent for the next couple of hours....if it doesn't abate through a nap or she cant get to sleep--try removing or loosening the diaper..see if that helps, and if it doesn't...call your pediatrician. Today.

When you change her diaper, you should also be checking down there for any unusual redness or chafing and rashes, and by down there means the whole entire region including groin, backside , waist and legs. Check for a bloated stomach, ask id her tummy is hurting. Ask !
The doctor will also do the same. It would be strange if the doctor can figure it out before you can. Do also ask for other things such as too tight diaper garters , too ugly diapers, dont you like diapers anymore (maybe she is being teased about it), do you have to go potty)
Be patient and talk to her. At 18months she should have very good basic communication skills already. Their vocabulary is getting established at this age.

Take her diaper off and let her sit on a blanket on the floor just to let it air out! They get hot and sticky in a diaper for long periods of time. Try changing diaper brands! Pampers disturbs me due to the gel that seeps out of them unto my babies skin. Make sure that you are buying diapers that don't have stay dry liners or perfume in them. Get some zinc cream and some cornstarch(not baby powder, this is found in the baking aisle of the grocery store)apply the cream and then a little cornstarch at night to soothe area. You can reapply zinc cream at every diaper change.

She may have a UTI. It will burn when she pees causing her discomfort as she's going.
Also, she may be having a reaction to the type of diapers you are using.(Even if you've used them since she was born)
I doubt she's ready for the potty yet at only 18 months.
Try sitting her in a warm bath for a while and sprinkle some babypowder on her when she gets out.

My daughter is 18 months old too. She might not want to wear the diaper (which my daughter does and pulls off herself) or it might be bothering her butt...does she have a rash down there?

If you have a pull up, put one on her instead and see if she does the same thing...

She probably doesn't like diapers anymore, or the ones she wears now are too tight etc...

Maybe she's ready for the potty chair. Put her in pull-ups and get her a potty so she can try. It sounds like she's rejecting diapers now because they are not comfortable.

Good luck!

Diaper rash or maybe a yeast infection. It itches and bothers us if we have this problem, it would be the same for her. My daughter had this problem once so I put baby powder down there and let her run around diaperless for a bit.
