The Siberian Husky as SAR dog is pretty uncommon. They don't have the drive for that kind of work.

Actually, they were bred to run -- pulling a sled with a light load over long distances at a moderate speed. Long walks and plenty of exercise, however, still apply. :)
Of course I love this breed!

These dogs have been used to save people in search and rescue. They are good looking dogs and can adapt very well to all envirnoments.
I guess I like the breed but they need an owner who can give them very long walks. These dogs were bred to walk for days at a time and have an inbred need to have long daily exercise. I walk my Akita (looks a bit like the husky) for two hours a day and I know that for a Huskie they need a lot more than this.

Count my wife and me in. We love them! We own (or should I say they own us) 2 Siberian Huskies, both females. We were "adopted" by one that was a stray. We put an ad in the paper (she had no collar/tags when she came wandering up to the automotive shop where I work) and to our amazement, no one claimed her. She then immediately became a member of our family. We adopted our other husky from the SPCA. Despite the fact that this breed is stubborn by nature, both dogs were pretty easy to train as far as basic commands, and both dogs are well socialized. They also serve as therapy dogs for the elderly, disabled, and terminally ill children. We love our "girls!"

i do. i love how they can talk and i love there markings. my nana had this friend and his name was Ira, and he had a husky and when ever Ira would go into the house and leave his dog in the car his dog would say "Ira" "iraaa" "Ira". it was so cool. i was like Ira ur dogs calling to u. i think that there really pretty and cool dogs. i want one.
