I don't want to download info from the net to rename the tracks. It isn't obvious to me how to put names and artists in those fields. I would appreciate any help.

In the "Library" view, right click on the desired track, then choose Advanced Tag Editor. You can edit the song title, album title, genre, song number, etc. on the first tab. The second tab is where you can edit the artist, album artist, etc. This is for Windows Media Player version 11.

hi I'm not an expert but i think i can help. me i have music in the mp3 format. firstly i click on my music. click on mp3.choose artist"if it has marked no name double click on this and name it then click to confirm.its the same principle for the song titles. when i compress my music i use the program cedex and if the album and songs don't come up its easy get sorted. hope this helps
