I am considered to be under weight for my height (178 cm) according to the chart. I wish to change it.

don't go by the chart. charts assume that everyone has the same genetic makeup, like as if we're all twins.

to gain weight, drink lots of milk. also eat eggs and other high protein foods.
for the muscles, do pushups (or try to do pushups, just pushing against the ground makes the muscles stronger). also do pull ups when you can, and push and pull heavy things.

two great books are arnold schwartzinegger's encyclopedia of bodybuilding and matt furey's combat conditioning.

To gain weight, you should increase the number of calories in your daily diet by about 300 calories. These extra calories should be part of a balanced diet.
