I met a woman and I noticed that she was wearing a wedding ring that had a band on either side of the engagement ring and I was wondering what each ring was supposed to represent.

Perhaps the third band was an anniversary band. Some women will wear them with their wedding band and engagement ring.

I have a three ring set. I have my wedding ring and two single bands around around my ring. It was a personal choice because we thought it looked best. My engagement ring didn't come with a wedding band. We just got creative--his ring looks like three rings put together. Just a sign on uniformity. Don't get hung up on what other people are saying--if you want or dont want three rings that is totally up to you. I learned that when planning my wedding. I'm not Christian so i don't believe its the unity of God, me and my husband. I had a handfasting ceremony and I have the ring for that, and once I have the actual wedding I will have my wedding ring which is the same as the handfasting ring, just on the other side of the engagement ring. It's different but thats how i chose to do it. And i like it.

I wear 3 rings. my engagement ring, my wedding band and my anniversary ring my hubby got me for our 1st anniversary. only difference is I wear my wedding ring, then my anniversary ring, then my engagement ring. I keep the 2 bands next to eachother.
