I know I am a guy and a regular one not big into fashion but I color my hair now because people treat me different with grey hair at 37. I'm too young to look like my Dad. SOooo now I have some practical knowledge from switching to better from cheaper.
Most of these answers are fair but I heard shampoo that is less than $2 is no better than liquid dish soap or hand soap. LOL. I like shampoo for color treated hair now and steer away from bargain poos. I used to love the smell of Vo5 and Herbal and even used the same conditioner. BUT now that I have used better ones I cannot compare the shampoos and conditioners especially they are so full of water and thin they stink. I have noticed that Herbal is harsh on hair and dries it out.
I would vote pantene if I was camping and had nothing but those two lol.

It's a matter of personal preference. I like Herbal Essences better than Pantene, I don't care for Pantene at all. Both are inexpense shampoos. Buy both and see which you like better. I don't use either, I use Garnier Fruitis Dandruff Control. I tend to perfer shampoo that smells good. Happy New Year.

if you have normal to oily hair, Herbal Essences do a good job of getting your hair clean. If you have damaged hair or fine hair, Pantene is the better choice. I like both products and have dry skin. My scalp can't handle pantene every day. So, I rotate between pantene, herbal essences, and baby shampoo.

I alternate. Herbal Essence doesn't coat your hair. Pantene makes my hair slightly oily the day after I wash it. I have very thick long hair, so I use Pantene when my hair is tangled in the morning. I also use it when I straighten or curl my hair with a hot styling tool. It protects it from being dried out.
Herbal Essence smells AMAZING! Period. I love it.

Pantene is way better. Having used both, i find that although herbal essences smells really good, it leaves my hair a bit dry and not as shiny as Pantene. Plus, pantene smells good too :)

I had a bad experience with Pantene. . . my hair started to fall out. Out of the two i'd go for Herbal Essences, but I stand by Paul Mitchell and Aveda products.

PANTENE by far! Herbal Essences hypes up their product with all kinds of crap! Pantene smells good, restores damaged hair, and leaves your hair looking healthy and beautiful! Good Luck!

I have colored and thick hair and decided to try the new Herbal Essences and it actually keeps my colored hair longer and i feel that my hair is softer than ever.
I used pantene when i was in high school and i noticed i was losing a lot of hair and my hair was always thick!
HERBAL ESSENCES BETTER
