Me and this girl are kinda similar but we have vastly different tastes in movies and probably music too. When we talk on the phone she does most of the talking and I mainly listen. When she asks me what do I want to talk about I draw a blank. Tonight will be the first time I will meet her,(my friend T.S. set us up and we've been talking over the phone nearly a week). So the question is what exactly do I talk about with her?

What topics are important to you? The thing of it is that if you can get her to talk about those topics, you'll be able to respond to the conversation. Ask her to tell you about situations, life experiences, things that you want to know more about and than she'll most likely ask you those same questions. For example, if you are big into music you could start with, "Have you ever gone to a concert? What bands have you seen live? Tell me about your first concert experience." As she talks, you hear things that you want to build off of. "Oh, I love that band! Have you ever heard this album?" Just let it come natural and don't force it. Most important, be that great listener you have been thus far and actively listen. All the women I have dated loved that I listened to them, I asked them lost of questions while we were getting to know each other, and it made them comfortable because I was asking them about their favorite subject - themselves.

You should talk about your family and what you did over the holidays. Talk about things you like to do or hope to do one day. Talk about the resolutions you made for the new year, if any. Find out if she likes sports you can talk about that. Try to remember past conversations you have had with her and research on some of the things you talked about so you will have more information to give her if the subject comes up or you could bring it up.

Just ask questions about the topics which interest her. If your interests differ ask what she finds appealing about her tastes. Just go with the flow. If it isn't coming naturally then probably not a good fit. Do NOT talk about past women, religion, politics, and sex (unless really going well at the end)

You're probably doing the right thing on the phone already. Girls love to talk - just be a good listener and respond to her questions about you

Well, certainly ask her about her interests and find out what other things you two have in common. Perhaps ask her about what she would want to do with a million dollars if she was given it to give away....etc. those types of "converstation starter" questions will certainly get things moving. Don't expect a script though, you need to put your head in the game and catch on to the conversation as it floats by!

Dont ever ever ever star off with sex. If she likes talkin let her do it. Do not just stare at her face when shes blabbin. Listen 2 her. Or ahell understand tht u dont like her talkin and thts the end. So Start off like cool guy. Some people can be different at phone and in actual conversation. Dont wait for her to start, just ask her like how was her day, and all tht ****... let her order food... u just call the waiter and be kind to him. Dont act as if u were his boss. AND REMEBER NO TALKIN ABT SEX AT FIRST DATE....

Movies: Is the trend in "origin stories" the end of the sequel, or just another form of it?
