When I got married, I wanted my best friend to be my matron of honor. My mom insisted my sister stand in instead. This is the only thing I regret about my wedding. I do not even speak to my sister anymore and I know it hurt my friend. Go with your heart, not obligation. It is a day of love and celebration.

blood is thicker than water. This is totally up to you, there are no rules for this, however, what a slap in the face for your brother. I say have your bro as the best man and have your friend as the first groomsmen. Although you are very close ith your friend, he should understand why you would put your bro as the best man. But I wouldn't be surprised if this causes tension between you and your brother if you don't choose him. You should talk to your parents and see what they think, they may be bothered that you wouldn't put your brother as the best man either.

Make your friend your best man and your brother your groomsman. Most of the weddings I have been to where the groom has a brother, he has not been the best man. It's very common practice.

I'd go with your best friend since your closer to him then your brother. Your brother could still be in the wedding as an escort for a bridesmaid.

Go with what your heart tells you. My husband had his cousin as his best man instead of his brother. He was closer to his cousin than his brother. His brother was a groomsman and was OK with the whole situation.

It's your wedding, so it's your choice. I say have your friend be your best man, and your brother be a groomsman. All the best!

You choose the person closest to you in your heart. Your brother can be a groomsman, or usher.

if you're not as close to your brother anymore, you could justify having your friend as the best man.

pick the one you want most - and if you can't pick, either have two or have none so that they are both the same position:)
