Many Christians who do not agree that there will be a pre-tribulation rapture of the Church point out that it is a relatively new doctrine, first popularized in the 1800s and elaborated on subsequently. There are whole denominations that reject it for this reason. The Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox do not accept it either, as such a thing as "rapture" was never taught by any of their bishops, from the beginning. Instead of "being taken up into Heaven", these churches follow the scriptures (such as Isaiah) clearly describing a physical Kingdom of Heaven that will be on a renewed Earth, following the Great Tribulation, the Resurrection of the Dead, and Judgment Day. For all practical purposes no Christians held to the pre-tribulation rapture theory before Darby in the 1820s.

The rapture is not Scriptural. Nobody is gonna flly anywhere.
When Paul says meet Christ in a cloud, it is a Hebrew idiom, which means among a whole lot of people - you know, like a flock of birds, or a swarm of bees - a cloud of people.

In Revelation, if folks don't understand verse 10 of chapter 1, they won't understand the rest of the Book of Rev; You see, some think that since God said to John "come up hither" that it indicates the rapture. In verse 10, it was John and only John who was taken in the spirit to the Lords Day, all the way future to where we are now, so that God could show him some things.
It was not the church, it was just John who was to go up hither.

In Ezekial 13; oh, around the 18th verse -
God says "I hate those who teach my people to fly to save their souls" - Its almost eery, since I've heard the rapture theory also called the "fly away doctrine".

I know Christians want to be with Jesus - thats fine, theres nothing wrong with that - but He's coming here, not up in the air somewhere, and Christians have work to do. What possible good would they do floating around up in a cloud somewhere?

In the Bible where it says "two women are grinding - one is taken and the other left" - people have actually written books saying they hope they will be the one taken. -unbelievable, since if they back up and read what the subject and object is that is being discussed, its the fact that Antichrist is coming. Those taken will be taken by Antichrist. We want to be the one left behind!!

These facts are all but cemented in the original manuscripts.
So, I can see why you are snickering when writing your question, and you know what? You should snicker, because there are some things that are just tradition of men, not even in the Word of God. Just try to understand that within any group, and Christianity is sure no exception - you are gonna find crazy people, and some people will literally believe whatever a pastor or priest tells them. Its a serious, serious shame.

You know, I never thought about that. The observable universe is approximately 12.5 billion lightyearsyears in radius, and since Heaven is outside the universe, that means they'll need to tavel so fast that oxygen will not be needed in the length of that journey.

Assume a person could hold their breath for 30 seconds in total vacuum, and assume that Heaven has a vast safety net that will catch people (maybe the COBE data is a picture of it!!!) so they can be in continual acceleration. An acceleration of 12.5 billion lightyears in 30 seconds would be so massive as to be effectively infinite acceleration, and thus infinite G forces (effectively as in... you're gonna be mush anyways).

WOW! Whatta ya' know, it'll be a miracle after all!

The other question is what are the logistics of meeting Jesus? Do you take a number and really how much quality time do you get with 144,000 other raptonauts elbowing in for time with the big guy.

Assuming this is a serious question, we are not talking about purely physical translation. It is not necessary non-physical, but physical+spiritual. It is well demonstrated that even with physical additions (G suits, supplemental oxygen, etc.) you can survive motion.

With spiritual assistance, why not? The only way you can say spiritual assistance could NOT save the people is to say that there is no absolute spiritual reality, that it's all made up in our heads. Once you allow spiritual reality, in the words of the commercial, "This changes everything."

Well for one thing, it doesnt say we'll be moved so fast that we'd have to worry about G forces. But also you may note 1 Cor 15:52in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.

Anything that would kill us before, wont then.

The Scripture says that they shall all be "CHANGED in a moment, in a twinkling of an eye...." I suppose it means that since corruptible flesh cannot survive in God's presence, that we will be given some sort of etheral immortal body similar to our fleshly one that will be able to stand in God's presence at that time.

Why are people like you so afraid of asking sincere questions? I've been on here a total of one hour. There seems to be a whole gang of immature atheists interesting in drowing out any serious discussion. Why is that. Why are you all so darned cowardly?

If God can split a sea and move a mountain, than i am not concerned about this either. The question has nothing to do with God, it has to do with the way man thinks about Gods things. Men have a much smaller intellect than God. So, I don't choose to think about something I cannot possibly wrap my mind around.
