The time of day you train can be important. Train at the same time as the event, to get the blood sugar up.

also, do other excersizes, like squats, jumping jacks, and jogging. They'll help you loose weight and strengthen your metabolism without over exhausting your arm muscles.

and on the big day, don't eat anything too heavy. Have plenty of fruit. And don't eat anything high in sugar until less than ten minutes before you have to do the pushups. Sugar gives you a burst of energy but in half an hour you get weaker than normal.

If you can find a backpack, fill it with as much weight as you can, books, rocks, anything up to the point where you can barely make the minimum number to win the bet.

Do as many push-ups as you can once every 4 hours, every other day. Increase the backpack weight a little every time. Give your muscles time to rest and recover. Rest 2 days before the event.

Then when you do your push-ups without the weight on your back you will feel light as a feather and maybe even surprise yourself.
