this is true. hair coloring in salons is always applied on hair that has not been washed in 2 or 3 days. this is done because only after this time the hair will have its natural oils, that are needed for the color to stick better and faster.

I don't think its the "dirt" that is helping the color. Hair that is dry takes the color better because there is nothing already absorbed in the hair shaft. Generally, freshly washed hair has some amount of dampness in it and with the water in the hair shaft, their is nowhere for the color to go.

Good Luck and Happy New Year!!!

yup sure does and some salons perfer your hair dirty why? The oils are there when it's freshly washed it's also harder for them to color too. You need those oils also can help prevent you from burning the scalp from the chemicals.

I am a hairdresser..... the reasons you want to color your hair dirty is because the natural oil on your scalp will protect you from irritation from the color and your hair should be porus (ready to accept hydration) it will absorb more color if not recently shampooed

Yes it seems that it does. It says on the instructions that you should refrain from washing it for a couple of days before coloring as the color will hold better.

No. The dye will not hold on oily dirty hair. You should shampoo your hair first then dry it before application of hair dye.

I thnk it helps the color to adhere better, and give you a stronger hue. My hair dresser chemically straightens my hair and she tells me the same thing.
