I am working with Windows ME at the moment and am upgrading to XP. I would like to take my photos with me and also keep the CD for backup. I hate WinME and cannot wait to be rid of it. I just don't want to loose my photos. (About 500 of them shot with 5.5 megapixels if that matters.)

Using Windows Explorer, go to your folder with your photos. Highlight all the ones you want my holding down the Control key while you click on each one.
Hit Control C (copy)
Then move your cursor to the CD icon in Explorer to click on it.
Then hit Control V (paste) and copies of all those photos will be on the CD.
Check to be sure they're there and open from that disk drive.

For backup, I recommend you get a Western Digital Passport (on www.buy.com) and copy all your data to it on a regular basis. You can get them with 100 GB! or more.

Copy them the same way you would copy them to another folder!
