If you're underweight you'll gain weight exercising as muscle weighs more then fat. Getting in shape is a great thing to do for your health, cardio work outs take a LONG time burn off fat, your muscles will get in shape before your fat takes a substancial hit. If you really want to get your muscles in shape, the fastest way to do it is weight training. If you want to stay smaller, do high reps low weight. By high reps I mean 10-12.
I'm guessing your a woman, so let me assure you that weight training will NOT make you big, manly or bulky. So long as you exercise properly, like by doing high reps.

You should build muscle mass which will be heavier, so you might actually gain weight. However, at the gym they have drinks that are high in calories, mostly for body builders, however some of them have a pretty high calorie count.

the only stupid question is an easy one that wasn't asked. Your answer lies in what you define as "masculine." training any variety of martial arts is a exercising ordinary. Weightlifting to construct muscle mass is a lot extra in all probability to grant you what you do not want.

Do your grocery shopping with a list and a period limit; that way, you're more unlikely that to stray into the refined foods section.

Eat healthy especially proteins. Don't cut calories. You'll build more muscle. I don't mean freak type muscle. You'll just fill out more.

If you are eating enough you will not lose weight. If you're working out really hard, just increase your caloric intake.
