I say no.

The truth can be based on fact.

The truth can also be based on faith.

Basically, I would say yes. An assumption, hypothesis or conjecture can only be accepted as the truth if there is enough factual evidence to support it. The correct question should be "what makes something qualified to be called a fact, and thus, the truth?"

For instance:

Regarding the status of Jesus (peace be upon him):

Muslims believe that God is ONE and only ONE, and that Jesus (peace be upon him) is the Messiah and a messenger of God, but not the son of God.

Trinitarian Christians believe that God is one but three - a triune god - God The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit, and that Jesus (peace be upon him) is the Messiah and the son of God.

Jews then believe that God is One, and that Jesus (peace be upon him) is not the Messiah or the son of God.

All base their claims on their respective holy scriptures - this is a FACT. So, the question is, which one of these 3 claims is the TRUTH?

And that, I hope would explain the "fact-truth polemic".

God knows best.

Peace and Love.

Of course, that is the definition of it. Can microscopic ever mean visible with the naked eye? For the love!

One guy said "Truth can only be based on God." What the hell does that even mean? Does that mean that 1+1=2 is only the truth if god says it is.

Truth is a matter of perspective.

IE ..I'm in FL and right now it is 11:47am now let say you like in MO for you it would be 10:47am. The Truth of this we are both right because of our perspective.

So what may be true for you may not before me the same as far as spiritual truths. This is call faith. Not to get it mixed up with religion.
