Truth is merely encapsulated aspects of reality. Each truth reveals something about the greater picture of reality that we need to see and to understand. Truth is in the Bible, but not all truth is in the Bible. I can look in the Bible and it will tell me that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life, and that no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). That is a very important truth. But it may also be true that I need to tie my shoe. That is not found in the Bible. So truth is in the Bible, but not ALL truth is found in the Bible. But all truth pertaining to the salvation of mankind has been given in the Bible. There is no truth in the universe that will conflict with truth that is revealed in the Bible. If anything appears to be truth while in conflict with the Bible, it is actually a lie and not the truth. The Bible is authoritative in this way. That is why we have been given the Bible, so that we can know important truths that reveal reality to us. Because we live in a world that has been deceived by satan, and truth has been obscured. That's why truth and 'light' are compared in the Bible, and 'darkness,' or obscurity is that which blocks out the light (truth). Does society change truth? Sometimes. It might change whether or not it is true that free elections determine the selection of president. But it will never successfully alter the truth of the Bible, even if it could rewrite it. Does truth change with time? Biblical truth does not, but the Biblical truth that applies for the specific moment in time may be confused by some with another truth stated elsewhere in the Bible. This has happened a lot. That's why so many people don't understand why Christians are free from serving Old Testament laws. That was truth that they were obligated to serve at that time. During this time, we are obligated to obey the Holy Spirit from the heart - this is New Covenant living.

truth is that which "is," or "reality." all things that exist are a reflection of truth, but truth can only exist in the human mind. it is like logic. logic can describe truth. if it is illogical, it is not true. does truth change? absolutely! even as priorities, logic, and intelligence changes. but what is driving this change? knowledge. i agree that there is an absolute truth and as we get more information processed as an entire people, we approach the absolute truth. imagine the middle ages. whatever the king said, that was true. no questions (over simplification, i know, but you understand my premise). or tribal society who thinks that the sun is a god who might reach down and snatch you up someday if you're bad. these are TRUTHS based on their limited knowledge. but each new generation unlocks more mysteries and the absolute truth is becoming a realization.

Truth is an accurate description of a substance, event or process made to the best of our ability.

Because truth is hemmed in by the limitations of perception, language, and cultural biases, it will always be changing.

But its changes will allow people to function by finding the best ways to meet our needs as individuals and as a society at that particular time.

Included in that is this definition of "truth."

truth has to do with what is real, what is honest, what is trustworthy , and is the opposit of a lie, of an illusion, and it involves no double meaning,it is rather straightforward and crystal clear, and is always right, liable to no doubt ,and to no mistake! i hope i've given u the definition u need because truth is one of the difficult words when it comes to definig it and some people take it for granted. truth does not change with time ,only with people who manipulate it to serve their interests. for e.g when s.b asks about ur age, u may say the truth and u may lie about ur age to appear younger ,but the truth about ur age when the question is directed to u is sth that does not change with time . i think truth is oppressed by people who take advantage of it to suit their purposes . when u see the world crowded with lies, deciet and hypocisy , u don't blame what is static(truth),but what is changeable(people).

There may or may not be things that are true independent of human beings, I think that there are. What is certain is our perceptions of that 'truth' such as it is will change over time.

All we can possibly have are models of reality, reality is perceived by us only through our rather limited senses after all.
Try some Kant if you can get through it.

Real truth is absolute. Nobody knows real truth because we can only experience subjective truth which is relative and situational. Relative truth changes with time and between societies.

That's just how it is.

Unless you set up dogma and rituals.

Truth is conformity to fact or actuality. It only changes if the facts change.

I love how Christians distort this word to mean something like "god actually exists" instead of it's dictionary meaning. Perfect example: The first answer was "God is truth". So you are saying "God is conformity to fact or actuality". So according to his definition I could say something like "It is the god that the moon orbits the earth". Of course that makes no sense.

Can we get off the bizarre word definitions, please?

God is truth and God is unchanging. The ways he is worshipped and the way the Gospel is presented will change. But God and his Word are always the same. If the Bible is changed, it's not the Bible.

If it doesn't line up with the Word, it isn't right.

Relative truth is that which applies to time, place and circumstance. Eternal truth (Veda) is that which never changes and is always applicable.
