Sorry I wrote so much:
Well, of course it's important. There are both negative and positive reasons for this.
You could write a book on why and how the Middle East affects the rest of the world on a dramatic and permanent scale. You could write several books and in fact there are several books on the subject.
There are the trade routs that are as important today as they were two thousand years ago.
There are the dramatic wars over territory and dogma.
Those are the first two that come to mind.
Oil isn't as important as you would think in comparison to those two areas, in my opinion. I don't even believe Bush had his mind on oil when he went over there. He was thinking about that trade route. Guarantee and having a cultural and social post in the Middle East.

Important? Well, people were trying to invade us for a very long time, British colonies, Italian colonies, french colonies. They must have had a good reason to waste their time on trying to take over don't you think?/
Well, the Middle East is considered rich with natural resources, a strategic place in the world it is right between Asia and the West, it is important religiously for the three Abrahamic religions.
Natural resources: we've good land that gives great fruit and vegetables such as Lebanon, Syria and Palestine used to be considered so.
In the Gulf there's oil which are people killing for.
what else? a lot of natural sources of water
Oh yeah I forgot to mention we have historical ruins and some of the strongest civilizations were on our land
( considering Morocco, Libya, Algeria, Tunisia and Egypt as part of the Middle East)
As for the religious part, it has Jerusalem which doesn't need explaining, and it has the Ka'ba and the Prophet's mosque in Medina in Saudi..
what do u want more?

The middle east is important as far as them being people. Referring to the war no because they are so far behind the USA in their thinking that they are not going to change and all the government is doing is wasting our money and making our people suffer.

God chose Jerusalem as the capitol city for the Jews who He chose to carry His word to the world. Because of this, Jerusalem will always be a city that Satan and those who serve Satan covet. This is at the core of the conflicts we see there now, with muslims who have been fooled into thinking the arab pagan moon god allah is the true God of the Bible trying to claim Jerusalem as theirs, when God clearly says it, and the surrounding land, belong to the Jews.
