Ok, so I have a male cockatiel that's 12 years old. I went away for 4 days and when I came home, all of his flight feathers on his left wing were gone, and he was in a very bad mood. My mom didn't notice him having an accident or night terrors. I clipped the other side to even it out, and he seemed to be less irritated, only now he's upset that he can’t fly! Could this be caused by a disease, or was he mad at me because I was away and pulled them out? I go away quite a lot, and this has never happened before! Does anyone have any ideas as to what happened?

do these 2 steps!
1 Spend more time loving him and giving him attention.
2 When you leave him again take him to a friend who also has a cockatiel or who has time to spend with him and knows how to care for him!

I own a cockatiel myself. don't be alarmed, Ergo is high-quality. Birds loose feathers and strengthen them lower back in accordance to seasons. the only difficulty i'd desire to recommend different than it somewhat is he would desire to probably be plucking them himself.(it would not make experience, yet they are able to attain feathers even on ideal of their heads.) He may well be going a sprint loopy. while my lady, Nini, is in warmth, she plucks alot of her feathers. My guess could be that there isn't any concern. it seems wierd, yet they are not in any variety of soreness.

Most likely he plucked them himself, cockatiels get VERY lonely and depressed when left behind. My guess is that either he is not use to your mother, doesn't like her as much as you or she didn't pay as much attention to him as you do.

It will grow back but he might not look the same until after his next molt. Keep an eye on him that now that this behaviour has started, it doesn't continue. If it does, take him to the vet.

Same thing happened to my cockatiel. He was probubly stressed out because he had not seen you for a while. It might sound weird...but you might be like a mother to him if you spend alot of time with him. He most likely picked out the feathers because he was stressed. Its just like when humans get stressed they pull their hair out!

when i went away, and had somone com in and feed . I came back mine just went to the back of the cage instead of coming to the front as usal for a head rub. I kept on saying the same things i used to and open the door and walked away after a few short days he started coming back to the front.

Most likely he was upset and missing you, but if you have doubts ask your vet. When I'm not around my husband takes care of the loving on the bird thing. They are emotional little guys. Mine lives in my office and can't stand it when I leave the room and don't return for a while.

i have 2 cockateils and i just think
that his feathers fell off because he's old and he's not supposed to have his feathers so long that he can fly so he shoulden't be mad at u
