All of a sudden my DVD's are playing in black & white.

Is this a problem with the DVD player? Or could it be the receiver for the surround sound?

I am baffled why this is happening and hope someone can help me figure out what this is and how to fix it!!!

If you are using an S-video or an RGB cable that could be the problem. Check that the cord is securely plugged into both ends. If that doesn't work replace the cable.

You need to describe in more details how you connect the DVD video signal to the TV.
a) Directly or indirectly (via an AV receiver)?
If indirectly try to connect it directly; if that fixes the problem, then there is a problem with the video path on the AV receiver
b) What type of cables?
Composite (yellow) , S-Video, component ? (R/G/B)
Gables do get lose. So try a different connection or even a different cable
c) Finally try to connect another video device (like a VCR). If that works, then there is a problem with your DVD player

You need to provide additional information. Brand/model number of DVD/TV model number and how the two are connected. If you happen to be using the Component connections (Red,Green, Blue) most likely the Red and Blue cables have gotten disconnected. Having the Green connection only will result in a black and white picture.
