I'd like to learn the Russian language, and I need to know if this method is efficient. Thanks.

I've used several Pimsleur programs, and it is actually a really effective method for learning a spoken language.

The downside is that Pimsleur is lacking when it comes to written language. You should definitely pick up some Russian workbooks, especially since Russian uses the Cyrillic alphabet.

Also, don't forget a good dictionary! I also recommend the "501 Verbs" series...see link below.

I first heard about the Pimsleur method here on Yahoo! Answers. I did a little reading about it on Wikipedia. I have to say that as a language teacher, and as a trainer of language teachers, there are things about Pimsleur that really concern me, if the description on Wikipedia is true. I think you'd do much better to sign up for a class at a community college.

I completed Pimsleur's Spanish I, II, & III. I agree it's a thorough and high quality method to learn a language, but somewhat lacking in the written language. It is very business/tourist oriented, so when you are finished you won't have the vocabulary to talk about every-day things.

I also found it very boring. You're just repeating words & phrases. There's nothing there to hold your interest, no stories, no real culture.

I can't offer a better choice for Russian, but that's my thoughts on the Spanish version.
