So how comes we still endure millions of illegals coming into this country and work for crap pay just to satisfy those Brits who don't want to do these jobs. This in itself in my eyes constitutes slave labour but many people see it as a good thing as they don't have to pay much for their services. Slave drivers the lot of you. So is this a good policy to allow them in to be treated like this or should we turn them away? Then again many I guess will suggest they should be paid well - so defeating the object.

These people may be getting more pay in this country than their own but their own country costs less to live in.

DAVID C, you missed the point, its the way these people are treated once they get here. Do you think all the many illegal woman who payed to get here and incarcerated into a life of prostitution have freedom to change their jobs if they are not happy. Its way they are used which is akin to slave labour.

The problem is that no one is doing anything about it. Americans won't do demeaning jobs because we know they don't pay what they should pay. So long as you allow the employers to hire those people without doing something about it, then you are adding to the problem. I had lost a job and had to get a demeaning job so I would still be able to make money while seeking out that better job and I know that they employers pay those who are not american cheaper rates. This is not right and when I found out they were doing that, I had them contact the labor board and a lawyer for discrimination. Those people worked just as hard as I did and deserved the same pay. If people would try to help more and less on complaining, then we might be able to beat this thing. Otherwise, the employers are going to do what they can get away with. Good luck and GOD bless.

There is a huge difference in Slavery and low paid labour.

1. A slave is a commodity, they is sold and bought, their children are sold and bought as well, they are just the same as livestock.

2. A worker on low pay, can move to another job, even go back home. Britain is, unlike Japan, a free market, and as long as you have the right to work here, ie an European or British Passport, you are entitled to full wage law protection. We even extend that right to refugees, far more than the UN asks us to do, and support them whilst we process their applications from our taxes.

3. Illegal workers, enter this country of their own free will, they even pay criminals huge sums of money to smuggle them in, they pay no taxes into our system, and can earn money far in excess of what they would earn back home. It is the smugglers who are using them like slaves, not the British Government. They do not contribute to our system in any positive way, and thus are not supported by the government in any shape or form- the Government does not allow them in, it is not a policy.

In fact, if you bothered to do your homework, you would discover, that the first country to abolish slavery, and defend the rights of natives who had been enslaved was Britain.

immigrants come to a different country and work for low pay because obviously its better pay then what they got in their own country. These people have families to support and getting a low paying job is much better than having no job at all or an even lower paying job.

Slaves didnt have a choice. These people choose to come. They are making better conditions for themselves.

No, they're coming over and getting paid 10 pence less an hour so getting these jobs. Brits are getting pushed out of work. I was at KFC in York last night and queued for one hour while the polish and chinese got order after order incorrect. Subway has gone that way, as has McDonalds and Burger King. I'm not racist, but i miss the days where you could order your food and the person taking your order understood you

I don't think we're allowing illegals into this country.
They're intentionally coming in.
Slaves were brought here by force.
Slaves=prisoners
Illegals=intruders
Isn't it obvious?
Maybe you're too dumb to understand.
Illegals here wants these jobs. They're not forced to do anything.
They come into this country and raise the tax money of this country by not paying any. America is losing money because of them. After they get their pays, they send it to their relatives in Mexico instead of spending it here, which makes US lose even more money.
Are you the supporters of the illegals? The criminals?
They wouldn't be treated like this if they stayed in their country.
It was their choice to intrude into our country.
They can go back when they want to but they chose to stay.

It has always been so.
Remember the 70s and the Aberdeen Angus Steak House chain who kept waiters and cooks on poverty pay then sacked them when they complained.The windows of the restaurants were full of people looking out at the pickets.

Solution ?

Difficult. You could withold your custom. But would the underclass suffer further ?

They may also be comparatively better off than where they came from.

Only rigourous checking of employers will help to curb the worst abuses - and bosse will complain of more red tape no doubt.

We think that these immigrants are getting treated bad, but to them they're getting more money here than they are back home. I don't think we should turn anyone wanting a better life away, thats what America is...land of opportunity but i do think they should do it in a legal way. They aren't slaves, they came here on their own free will and stay here at their own will.

I think if we allow less illegal immigrants into the country, more American citizens will have jobs. Wait...slaves? In America? What? I thought slavery was abolished after the civil war...
Anyway, if that becomes the case, I think they should make minimum wage higher.

Because it suits them who NEED to get richer.
The slaves have no choice, they NEED to put food in the mouths of their families left behind.

All slaves on this earth who can stay put in their own countries and manage to feed themselves should give thanks. There but for the grace of the almighty go YOU.
