It is a double standard that has existed for centuries which goes back to the women being the "gatekeepers" of who they are to mate with to produce the best offspring. If a woman mates with anything that has has male genitalia, they may (and do) produce offspring that is not would not only make the "survival of the the fittest", which is the ultimate goal, but produce an offspring that will end up on the "Darwin Awards" list or worse, the Jerry Springer show.
The reason men are seen as "studs" is the ability to sow their seed which would make them the Alpha Male as their traits would be desire able to propagate the species.

Because men keep it that way! I've never seen a woman call a man a stud if he sleeps around, they would more likely call him a dog! Only men call each other studs for having slept around loads. Men are also the ones who are so quick to call a girls sluts if they sleep around. Doesn't matter how much we try, we can't change it. That's why most women lie about the amount of men they have slept with!

Why is there only one rooster or bull in the yard? Males fighting for dominance is natures way of improving the species. Why do humans resist managed and intelligent efforts to breed a better person? Really, the answer to your question is that women have always been in a larger sense, the keepers of order and faith. They nurture the young and shape the future by teaching their children. Prostitution, the oldest profession, is women sleeping around. Things have changed for the worse today. There are many names for the modern family where children have unknown mothers and fathers. It goes back to Abraham in the Bible.

women are seen as sluts because a man feels as though a real woman shouldn't be sleeping around.it's some 1940's bullshit that women can't have just as much sex as men. If man who sleeps around with women and call them sluts, he is more 'sluts' than any woman. This is just a term for those who wish to vent their frustrations on these women. They are actually trying to give names to call the men who slept with these women but they have to put the blame on the women while they try to win back their man.
Man are always proud of what they do so they call themselves 'studs' not 'sluts'.

I agree. I'ts a discrimination against women and it should be put to an end (although I know this will never happen but it would be nice.) Well men like that are not always regarded to as studs. I just see them as players and no self-respecting girl would be dumb enough to fall for them.

because it's the person they sleep with who brand them as sluts, then word gets round coz the idiot is putting out bad rumours about the girl, so everyone assumes she is, it's OK when the guy is getting it but afterwards, he calls her a ****, they are not sluts, if they choose to sleep with someone, whats wrong with that?....some people are just plain evil, no woman is a ****.....and the people who brand them do not deserve female company...and men who think they are studs AIN'T , this is an equal world now so why ain't guys sluts or whores, i have answered this question before and still think the same....women are not sluts and are free to sleep with who they like and when they like, it does not make them a bad person....and i also agree with (Roger N) he hit the nail on the head...nice one mate....jealous girls...yeh i agree

Good point. And why is it that a man can sleep with a high number of women, but he can't handle having a girlfriend who has slept with a high number of men? As if there were women made solely to sleep with those men who want to fool around, and other women made solely to be virgins for them to marry. It makes me sick!

Women regarded as SLUTS are sexually inmoral.A careless dirty,slovenly,woman.No one would want to have a mother like that, and no man would want his children to have that kind of a mother. Men that are called studs, (Slang) virel, sexually promiscuous man. >an animal for breeding<. Men can fathered so many children to different women as long as he can support them. I say, do what you want. As long as you use condoms and are careful about who you do it to, you're not a ****. You're a woman who enjoys sex. And hey, guys. What's sexier than that?
