We had brisket at my daughters wedding. We purchased it at the grocery store, took it to a guy that BBQ/smokes meat. He smoked 50 lbs of meat for $40. We also purchased ham & the store sliced it and put in roasters. We fixed twiced baked potatoe casserole and green beans with lots of bacon & butter. Served dinner rolls. Everyone loved the food. My daughter's color were also black, white & red. Now is a good time to purchase all the white christmas lights. Used lots of white tulle. We rented red & black napkins and put them in the center of the table on white table cloths & used tall cylindrical vases w/red & black stones & put red beta fish in each vase. It was beatiful. My daughter used the vases of fish as favors and gave them to her wedding party and to some of the guests. She got married in Aug & everyone I talk to still have their fish. We type up care instructions and tape to the bottom of the vases.

Those were my original colors and although I'm going with a champagne color now here were my ideas:

Centerpeices for the tables: Vase of red and white roses
Lined from the center out dividing the table would be wine classes with floating candles.

I planned on doing white balloons on the outside of the reception hall, having white table cloths, and red, white flowers everywhere. I wanted to do candles everywhere too.

I had planned on doing an itialian dinner like a pasta with meat, a salad and some sides.

Now I'm going with a traditional roast, vegetables, etc.....but I'm still doing the flowers and candles.

Hope this helps.

HAVE FUN PLANNING IT!

Now is a good time to look for decorations because red is one of your colors. After Chrismas all the decor goes on clearance (half off or more!) Go to places and see if they have red candles or vases or ribbon...whatever you may need you can find some great deals.

Also craft stores have good prices on a lot of stuff for your wedding. I jsut got vases for my center pices at AC More (acraft store) for $2 each! Then i got silver candles to put in them on clearance at Peir One. Shop now during all the after christmas sales and you can really help out your budget. Congrats and good luck!

it all depends on your budget, a lot of people with a tight budget do a pot luck dinner for their food, where everyone brings a dish to share to the reception. If you have the money to spend for food, you could always do a nice sit down family dinner, holiday style. as far as decorating, i am planning my friends wedding and we got a lot of decorations of this site, and the prices are very reasonable.

Your favors could be homemade cookies. Just get cookie cutters in the shape of leaves and get some frosting. I'm saving at least $100 doing this instead of buying favors that will just get thrown away anyway.
