Hi ,the best thing to do if you have a URI upper respiratory infection is to boil water in a saucepan, take it off the stove.and using a large towel, drape it over your head with the hot water and inhale the steam for about 10 or 15 minutes,this should clear up your congestion temporarily you have to repeat this every so often. A good decongestant for the runny nose and drainage, some tylenol for the chills and aches and pains, lots of good for you liquids, some extra vitamin C, some extra rest, some times a cool mist humidifier at night helps, use distilled water in it, and if it is viral and not bacterial, just let it run its course, usually about seven days.
