Depends on where you are. Some police officers may make more money than paramedics in one locale, and in other locales, it may be the other way around.

Generally speaking in my experience in the both the firefighting and law enforcement fields, the firefighter/paramedic make more money from that salary, as well as able to make money from another salary.
From what I have seen they firefighter/paramedic will usually be making about anywhere from $4,000- $10,000 more starting out than a cadet in the police academy.
Also another thing that you can look at is the fact that the firefighters primarily work 24 hours on, and 48 hours off. That leaves a lot of time to have a second career on the side. So you figure that if you are making almost $50,000 in the firefighting, and making around $30,000 doing something else on the side, you are making around $80,000 a year working the same full time days a week.
I will tell you though, while both jobs are tough, if you get into the firefighting field, make sure that you love the job first. Both have thier ups and downs, but that firefighting is a tough one. I have been happy to be part of both fields right now.
Good luck..

Depends on where you live, but generally police officers make more money.
Firefighters usually are paid slightly less because they work 24 hour shifts 2 days a week. Everyone of them I know has an other full time job, ie, lawn service, handy man, real estate.... they do the fire gig for the benefits.
Cops work 8 to 12 hour shifts, 4 or 5 days a week. Long gruling hours of humping calls and writing reports.

Paramedic might make more salary wise, but the cop would bring home more money. They have longer hours than paramedics. Isn't it a shame that our entertainers get paid millions of dollars to pretend to do the things that firefighters, cops, and paramedics do everyday and risk their lives for? I find that disturbing. Instead of wondering who makes more, find out what it is you want to do in life. You shouldn't be concerned on what pay you will recieve. Our circumstances changes from one minute to the next. Whatever you choose, make sure it's something you love to do. Thank you and GOD bless you.

Cops, there are usually more OT hours available for officers. Usually your shift is 10hrs 4 days a week. But you do a lot in the time you are on duty, and have to deal with the worst of the worst. However when you get that one call where you save a life, or bust a DUI driver, or arrest someone for DV to make a home better for the kids, its quite rewarding.
