The gay people I know aren’t ALL anything specifically, except gay. Some are believers, some aren’t Some are republican, some are democrat, some don't vote at all. Some are vegetarian, some aren’t. Some drink too much, some never touch a drop.
They are individuals.
NOTE concerning some of the other answers. Not all Christian churches teach that being gay is an abomination. My pastor always includes orientation when he talks about people who sometimes feel unwelcome at a church but who we welcome at ours. Also, we don’t practice Levitical law at our church. Never once have we sacrificed an animal or done any of the other things mentioned.
For any who are gay and would like to attend a church but are concerned about feeling unwelcome, look for a church with an ‘open minds, open hearts’ polocy.

I don't think that's any more true than saying that the majority of christians are inbred, alcoholic hicks with borderline IQ's and rusty old camaros up on blocks in their front yards.

It wouldn't surprise me if there were a higher percentage of atheists in the homosexual community. What kind of idiot would accept a ridiculous assertion that his/her sexual identity is "an abomination?" That would be like telling you that bigotry is an abomination.

At UNCG (a college where there is a very strong gay culture), I met a lot of gay men that were very devout Christians. I often wondered why, with such a strong dislike for them in the Christian nation

Not surprising to those of us who know gay people, most that I know are highly religious. Most christian gays that I know seem to know the bible better than a lot of straight ones.

Don't think so. Homosexuality can literallly strike anyone, regardless of religion and is usually from birth...it isn't something that is drummed into you.

no but those who admit they feel that way most likely are because they dont have anything to fear from those around them...
and many leave religion because of the bigotry around something that is completely natural

And how is that? You mean, if the judeo-christian god commands his followers to KILL YOU through no fault of your own, you maybe start suspecting that the whole god thing can't possibly be real?
