The first thing you need to do is see a doc to be sure you don't have a physical cause for your GERD. You may have an ulcer or a hiatal hernia that is the cause and those things are treatable. If it is just from normal causes you need to take medication for it and possibly raise up the head end of your bed up. Sometimes if you are overweight and you loose weight you don't have symptoms but generally unless you can find a specific cause for it you have symptoms but can control the GERD with medication.

Gastric Reflux may be caused by the stomach and esophagus not being formed exactly right. The reflux can cause damage to the esophagus. If damage has occurred, there are medications you can take to help in healing. I found Nexium to be the best for me. You must also make some changes in your diet to reduce the heartburn. You need to keep a log of anything you have eaten or drunk anytime you get heartburn. Then avoid those things to minimize the reflux problem.
