This is a natural, but unsavory habit for dogs. There are many products out there, but honestly they do not work that well. One piece that works well with dogs is adding a little meat tenderizor to their food- it gives the stool an unpleasant taste.
Other than that, keep your yard picked up and avoid it. Other dogs stools may contain eggs of intestinal parasites and thus he could pick these up. If he eats other's stools, bring a stool sample to the vet as part of the yearly exam to have it tested for parasites.

How old is your dog? Most do eventually grow out of it, my dog was very fond of horse poop when he was younger, I have recently encountered some and he completely ignored it. My vet told me that there is nothing wrong with it, from the dog's perspective, but it is probably a good idea to worm your dog regularly and actively discourage him by saying no.

Dogs are essentially omnivorous scavengers and, in the wild, would eat the whole of their prey's carcass including partially digested food in the gullet and the animal's faeces. This provides gut-friendly bacteria and is perfectly OK, albeit not very nice to look at.
You could include live yoghurt in your dog's diet. This may remove the need for it to obtain the bacteria from its faeces.

while it doesn't usually endanger your dog's health, it could if the feces were contaminated... if you sprinkle "adolf's meat tenderizer" on his/her food, it will make the resultant Poo smell and taste funny and most dogs will not be as interested. just don't use too much- use it like you would season a plate with salt and pepper. I had trouble with a couple of dogs in the past and this took care of the problem. if you have other animals in the house (cats and other dogs) sprinkle a little on their food to make that poo unsatifying to your pup.

You can stop this by buying a product called For-Bid. You add it to their food, and as shocking as this may seem, it makes their poo taste bad (you would not THINK it would need any help in that department, but this is an animal that thinks the poo of most any other animal is a delicious treat so... ).
For-Bid...

Once he is done, don't let him get to it before you baggie it up and throw it away. You may want to look into what food you are feeding, as sometimes they eat poo because of a vitamin deficiency. But it's prolly just cuz he's being trying to cover up or something. Just pull him off of it till you can get it cleaned up and eventually he will get the picture. =)

If it's his, it's fine. Your dog is eating his/her poo because he/she is covering up their mark. My dog did this for a while, and my step-grandparents dog still does and he's like 8 or 9 years old.
