my daughter said she was hearing voices when she was 4 yrs old. she even told her pre school teacher that the voices told her to hurt another child. we later found out that she had been molested around this time. i don't know if the two go together but we did see a dr about the voices --tbis was before we knew about the molestation. make sure all is right with your son by seeing a child psychologist. observe him for signs of trouble. do the voices scare him?? is he depressed? has he had any trauma lately --divorce, moved, ect. look at his life and see if there is anything amiss that you should alert the psychologist to. good luck.

How does he know who the devil is? Do you ever talk about the devil around or to him? If you do because of you faith then I would suggest you start to focus less on the devil and more on his power to do the right thing because of who he is in Jesus.

But I think the real question is what type of "bad things" is he talking about? I mean if he says the devil told him to do things that are very disturbing than yes you want to take him to see someone.

But I get the feeling that he doing things like maybe lying or hitting a brother or sister etc. If so I think he is a normal kid who recognizes that sometimes he knows the right thing to do but is tempted to do the wrong.

If the above be the case you can teach him he doesn't have to listen to that voice or do what it says. It is his choice and no one not even the devil can force him to do wrong.

But if the situation makes you feel that uneasy then do what will give you peace of mind. You know your son and the severity of his actions best.

Could he have seen or heard something that has scared him therefore making him think that his own thoughts are The Devil? We all think bad stuff sometimes and maybe he is just learning to understand that.

I have an 8 year old and they do say the strangest of things at times!!
Try not to worry to much and just reassure him that The Devil can't do that, and that you still love him even if he does bad things occasionally. Its probably just a phase he's going through.

Good luck.

You certainly have reason to be worried. Have you talked to him and asked him specifically what bad things the devil has told him to do? Unfortunately our children today are exposed to so many more things that children 20 years ago were exposed to and it is due a lot to television and mass media. He can have some serious issues that need to be taken care of immediately (ask your Pediatrician for a referral) OR it could be that your little fellow has seen so much or heard so much and is bright enough that he is saying these things just to see what your reaction is. Try to be as calm as you can and find out more information from him (although I know you are panicked on the inside). God Bless you and your son.

He could be schizophrenic or bipolar. Have him evaluated. My brother turned schizophrenic at age 14, and if left untreated, he hears voices, talks to them, and engages in bizarre and sometimes dangerous activities. He takes Abilify now, and is a normal, wonderful person. Get 2 or 3 doctor's opinions, and keep trying meds until something works. It took years before my brother found a med that works for him. Luckily they're always coming up with new, improved drugs that vastly improve the lives of people with mental illnesses.

"If they speak not according to this Word, it is because there is no light in them." God still performs miracles, but it is not His Will to heal EVERYONE. What would that accomplish? How would that strengthen their character? My mother is currently dying of a 20-year struggle with a severe form of MS. Her body is shutting down. I have been praying for years now that if it be in God's Will to heal her, that He would do so. The end of her life is now imminent, and I have accepted that it is not God's Will to heal her at this time. But my mother's body is so far gone, if He were to heal her, He would have to give her a completely new body - make her into her youthful self again. But why do that now, when she will be resurrected back to life in that very same youthful body when Christ returns soon anyway? It would be an unnecessary healing. I have just learned to trust God, no matter what, especially since I can't see the future, and I lack His wisdom. Let His Will be done, not mine.

If he is hearing voices then he needs professional help. If he has been telling you this for a while now don't wait any longer before getting him help. The longer you wait the more chance there is that the voices will be stronger than your son is and somethng really bad will happen. The voices in my brother in laws head finally won and he is no longer with us so get the help your son needs right now.

Something is very wrong here. I lived next to a boy a few years back that also kept saying the devil talks to him. He was brought to a therapist and the voices went away. Best wishes to your family

Unfortunately i do not beleive that the Devil speaks to any of us. Has the voice said that he is the devil? Your son is looking for an excuse to do wrong things. Thats all we ever do blame it on the devil. If we take respnsobilities for our own actions the devil will have to close his business trust me. Anyway if it really bothers you take him to a psychologist.

You should get him seen as soon as possible by a psychologist/psychiatrist. If you check the web for your area there are also places listed that can help. If financial is a problem there are Services through Human Services that can help. But don't wait long.
