The third plague of Egypt was fleas. God instructed Aaron to take his staff and strike at the dust, which turned into a mass of fleas that the Egyptians could not get rid of. The Egyptian sorcerers declared that this act was "the Finger of God", since they were unable to reproduce its effects with their magic.

As the story goes, everything was created prior to man. So sure, all that stuff was there.
You know when a vacation goes well, none of the bad things are mentioned(you know the all you can eat/drink tropical spas). Its only if things start to go bad that all the bad things are mentioned when someone asks(add one hurricane, earthquake, sin and its "I don't understand what people like about the place").
