How many people died in airplane accidents in 2006?

The Aviation Safety Network lists the statistics of all major aircraft accidents worldwide for 2006 with detailed accounts:

Minor aircraft accidents around the world may not be included in surveys so an accurate number cannot be given.

Hope this helps.

2006 numbers not out yet. In 2005, 593 people died in aviation accidents in the U.S. I'm fairly certain the 2006 number are quite a bit lower, as there was only one airline crash (in Kentucky) and general aviation accidents were down.

To put it in perspective, over 43,000 people died and around 2.7 million people were injured on the highways in the US in 2005.
